Reduce air pollution now
IMPROVE AIR QUALITY IN BARNET NOW
Campaign for No idling signs throughout Barnet
Stationary idling is an offence under section 42 of the Road Traffic Act 1988.The Act enforces rule 123 of the Highway Code.
However, idling while parked is very common. According to TFL, an idling engine can produce up to twice the emissions of a car that’s in motion. These include chemicals such as sulphur dioxide, particulate matter and nitrogen oxide to name a few.
These chemicals are especially damaging to children and young people and can also contribute to asthma, heart disease and even lung cancer
