Sport and Physical Activity Review
Policy & Resources Committee are asked to approve the Outline Business Case for Sport and Physical Activity which sets out how the council intends to increase sport and physical activity and the future direction for the council-owned leisure centres. The report seeks approval from Policy & Resources Committee to commence a competitive dialogue for the re-procurement of the council’s five leisure facilities management contract, following an options appraisal.
The business case recommends starting a procurement exercise in the autumn which will deliver:
• Improved facilities which suit the needs of the localities they serve at zero-subsidy from the council from 2018
• Facilities and a contract focused on public health outcomes which support an increase in participation and therefore deliver improved health benefits (e.g. reduce social isolation, reduce risk of illness, obesity etc.) to Barnet’s residents
