Chipping Barnet Resident Forum - Issues List

Minutes:

The Chairman introduced herself and the Officers present and welcomed everyone to the virtual meeting.

 

1.               Petition: Monitoring and Enforcement of Parking Restriction/ 20-mph Speed Limit and introducing a school street scheme – Windsor Drive and Ridgeway Avenue EN4

Lead Petitioner: Sanjay Doshi

Number of signatures: 77

 

The Lead petitioner was given 3 minutes to introduce the petition to the forum. They explained that residents of Alston Road have been concerned for a long time about the traffic situation, namely the high level of congestion at certain times of day and dangerous speeding at other times. The resident noted that past history of the site and noted that in December 2020 a number of actions to address the issues were agreed with senior council officers, they were not carried through.

 

The resident asked to see an extended 20 mile/hour limit along the whole of Alston Road and, ideally along the surrounding roads too.

 

Councillor Coakley Webb addressed the committee as Governor of Dangrove and sough the road have signage marking it as a “School Street”

 

Following discussion of the item the Chairman, resolved to refer the matter to officers for a response within 20 working days, including a site visit with the Local Ward Councillors

 

 

2.               Petition: Manor Drive/1-10 Raleigh Drive, Whetstone N20

Lead Petitioner: Miriam Wright

Number of Signatures: 167

 

The Lead petitioner was given 3 minutes to introduce the petition to the forum. The resident was seeking support in solving serious road issues on Manor Drive/1-10 Raleigh Drive, Whetstone N20. She explained that previous action to install of a few speed limit signs had proven unsuccessful and the situation had since worsened and was unsafe.

 

Officers recommended a feasibility study be undertaken and as such would be best referred to the Executive Director, Environment for consideration under the Road Safety and Parking fund.

 

The Chairman resolved:

a.     resolved that the Road Safety and Parking issue be referred to the Executive Director, Environment for consideration for a Feasibility Study.

b.    to instruct that an appropriate named officer contact the resident within 20 working days to provide an additional response and that this response

 

3.              Issue: Extended 20 mile/hour limit along the whole of Alston Road

Chris Nightingale presented his issue and the written response was noted.

 

Officers noted that the issue required a wide review of traffic in High Barnet, due to the impact of adjacent roads.

 

The Chairman resolved:

a.     to instruct that an appropriate named officer contact the resident within 20 working days to provide an additional response and that this response be published in the meeting documents available on the website.

b.    that Ward Members are notified of the issue.

 

4.              Issue: EXETER ROAD N14 5JU

Submitted by: Tony Palumbo

 

Tony Palumbo presented his issue and the written response was noted.

 

Following discussion offices confirmed that they would be engaging with Enfield Council Highways Team as responsibility fall under their Council.

 

The Chairman resolved:

a.     to instruct that an appropriate named officer contact the resident within 20 working days to provide an additional response and that this response be published in the meeting documents available on the website.

b.    that Ward Members are notified of the issue

 

 

 

5.              Issue: TRAFFIC REVIEW - HIGH BARNET

Submitted by: Ken Rowland representing Barnet Residents Association.

 

Ken Rowland presented his issue and the written response was noted.

 

As three items were raised in relation to the High Barnet Area, requesting a review of traffic, Officer confirmed that they would engage with the Barnet Town Centre Team for a review into the wider area.

 

The Chairman resolved to instruct that an appropriate named officer contact the resident within 20 working days to provide an additional response and that this response be published in the meeting documents available on the website.

 

6.              Issue: Potter’s and Plantagenet Road

Catherine Durston presented her issue and the written response was noted.

 

Officers recommended a feasibility study be undertaken and as such would be best referred to the Executive Director, Environment for consideration under the Road Safety and Parking fund.

8.              Issue: REDUCE SPEED LIMIT TO 20 MPH ON SALISBURY ROAD, EN5
