Minutes:

The Chairman introduced the report and amendments highlighted in the addendum. The published order was amended at the meeting in order that Members who do not sit on the Committee could have an opportunity to present their items first. The items were therefore heard in the following order:

 

7. Councillor Alex Prager - Speed Survey Request

 

Councillor Prager introduced his request which was for a speed survey on Shirehall Lane for £2,000. Following discussion, the Committee moved to vote on the item and votes were recorded as follows;

6. Councillor Golnar Bokaei - Mill Hill Town Square

 

Councillor Bokaei introduced her request which was to support a project in Mill Hill Town Square led by Mill Hill Library for £10,500. Following discussion, the Committee moved to vote on the item and votes were recorded as follows;

8. Councillor John Hart - Application for Information Noticeboard for Darland’s Nature Reserve

 

Councillor Hart was not present at the meeting and therefore the Chairman introduced his request which was for an information noticeboard for Darland’s Nature Reserve, for £1,600. She confirmed that this request is for the Mill Hill entrance, and that Councillor Caroline Stock was putting in a similar request to the Chipping Barnet Area Committee for the Totteridge entrance. 4. Councillor Linda Freedman - Creating a play area at Glen Gardens

 

Councillor Freedman introduced her request which was for installation of a play area including landscaping for £23,800. Following discussion, the Committee moved to vote on the item and votes were recorded as follows;

9. Councillor Sara Conway - Speed Survey Request

 

Councillor Conway introduced her request which was for a speed survey on The Greenway, and safety review of CPZ bays for £2,000. Following discussion, the Committee moved to vote on the item and votes were recorded as follows;

1. Councillor Saira Don - Refurbishment of playground at Barnet Hill Academy

 

Councillor Don introduced her request which was for funding for the refurbishment of the playground at Barnet Hill Academy for £19,000. Following discussion, the Committee moved to DEFER the decision to a future meeting of the Committee for further information. Votes were recorded as follows;

2. Councillor Val Duschinsky - Feasibility study for traffic management on High Street NW7

 

Councillor Duschinsky introduced her request which was to undertake a feasibility study which would include a traffic survey and tracking of large vehicles, for £5,000. Following discussion, the Committee moved to vote on the item and votes were recorded as follows;

5. Councillor Sarah Wardle - Double Yellow Lines Junction of Ashcombe Gardens and Glendale

 

Councillor Wardle introduced her request which was for double yellow lines to be painted at the junction of Ashcombe Gardens and Glendale Avenue for £3,000. She noted that, should the request be agreed, she was happy for it to be bunched together with other requests for yellow lines received later in the year for cost reduction. Following discussion, the Committee moved to vote on the item and votes were recorded as follows;

10. Councillor Nagus Narenthira - Heybourne Crescent NW9 requesting 20mph if possible

 

Councillor Narenthira introduced her request which was to review safety and speeding on Heybourne Crescent, including the junction with Lanacre for £7,000. Following discussion, the Committee moved to vote on the item and votes were recorded as follows;

11. Councillor Ammar Naqvi - Speed Survey Request

 

Councillor Naqvi introduced his request which was for a speed survey on Montrose Avenue for £2,000. Following discussion, the Committee moved to vote on the item and votes were recorded as follows;

3. Councillor Nizza Fluss - Benches, Dustbins, Surfacing, and a Slide for Brookside Walk Play Area

 

Councillor Fluss introduced her request which was for benches, dustbins, surfacing, and a slide for Brookside Walk Play Area, for the amended amount of £15,400. Following discussion on the amount of funding requested and the need for further clarification on costings, the Committee moved to vote to fund 3 benches (including installation) and 1 extra dustbin, for a total of £4,495. Votes were recorded as follows;

It was therefore RESOLVED that, the Hendon Area Committee agreed funding for £4,495 and that the rest of the request could be considered at a future meeting when further information, including proposals and estimates from officers has been provided.
