The Health and
Social Care Act 2012 established health and well-being boards as
forums where key leaders from the health and care system work
together to improve the health and well-being of local communities.
The Health and Well-being Board plays a key role in the local
commissioning of health care, social care and public health through developing and
overseeing a Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) through the
Joint Health & Wellbeing Strategy.
