Safe pedestrian crossing over Frith Lane opposite Finchley Golf Club

We the undersigned petition the council to Provide a pedestrian island refuge on Frith Lane opposite The Paddocks (entrance to Finchley Golf Club) at the point where many residents need to cross this very busy road.

With the rapid expansion of Millbrook Park, pedestrian improvements are urgently needed on the section of Frith Lane opposite The Paddocks (entrance to Finchley Golf Club). Many residents need to cross at this point to access the Lovers Walk footpath connecting to West Finchley and Finchley Central. Crossing Frith Lane at that point is increasingly dangerous. Pedestrians are forced to dash across when a gap arises between cars, buses and lorries. Currently, the only nearby pedestrian refuge is far down beyond one of the 221 bus stops and the Highways Dept has acknowledged that it requires a "significant detour" for many residents to use it. A new safe place to cross is therefore urgently needed equidistant between the two 221 bus stops.
