CHAIRMAN’S INTRODUCTION
The Chairman introduced himself and the Officers present and welcomed everyone to the virtual meeting.
- Petition: Safe Pedestrian Crossing over Frith Lane opposite Finchley Golf Club
Lead Petitioner: Jennifer Roberts
Ward: Mill Hill
Number of signatures: 136
The Lead Petitioner presented the petition and outlined the problems faced. The new development in the area had caused an increase in population and traffic in the local area. It was becoming a dangerous situation especially for pedestrians with buggies or for those who could not walk very fast. Speeding motorists had been identified along the stretch of Frith Lane. Dr Roberts said that a dropped curb and a pedestrian refuge would improve the problem. The Mill Brook Park and the Mill Hill Residents Associations were in support of the petition.
Officers advised that funding to undertake a feasibility study would allow an analysis of pedestrian count and behaviour as well as to measure the speed of vehicles before a suitable pedestrian crossing could be implemented.
RESOLVED – That the petition be referred to the Executive Director, Environment for consideration for a Feasibility Study.
- Petition: The Bottleneck on The Ridgeway (junction of Burtonehole Lane)
Lead Petitioner: Mehdy Shojai
Ward: Mill Hill
Number of signatures:52
The Lead Petitioner was not present at the meeting.
RESOLVED – That no action be taken.
- Petition: To stop cars from blocking the Access Road that runs behind the shops fronting Watford Way and running from Hendale Avenue to Greyhound Hill.
Lead Petitioner: Yan Bramayanto
Ward: Hendon
Number of signatures: 29
The Lead Petitioner was not able to attend the forum. A supporting statement from Mr Bramayanto was submitted in advance of the forum. It was noted that part of the affected area belonged to the Council and the other part belonged to TFL. Officers advised that further investigation of the area was needed.
RESOLVED – That the petition be referred to Officers to respond within 20 working days.
- Issue: Mill Hill Conservation Area Advisory Committee (CAAC)
Resident: Victor Montefiore
Ward: Mill Hill
The Resident was not present at the meeting.
RESOLVED – The issue was noted, and no action was taken.
- Issue: Pavement Build-Out
Lead Speaker: Mr Levy
Ward: Hendon
The Lead Speaker was present at the meeting. Officers advised that the issue was raised as a Member’s Enquiry, pending a response.
RESOLVED – That the petition be referred to Officers to respond within 20 working days.
- Issue: A41 Hendon Central Junctions
Lead Speaker: Mr Levy
Ward: Hendon
The Resident was present at the meeting and provided historical information on improvements to be made to the area between Station Road to Watford Way. Initial proposals that were taken to the Area Committee and TFL’s response meant that there was no funding stream available to make further suggested improvements.
Mr Levy said that along with Hendon Central Junctions, improvements were needed to the U-turn near the war memorial. Officers advised that funding for the road safety and traffic issues would come out of a separate budget.
RESOLVED – That the issue be referred to the Hendon Area Committee in October for consideration.
The meeting finished at 19.15.
