As the petitioner was not present, the Chairman updated the meeting informing attendees that an officer report on a 20mph zone in the area was to be presented at Chipping Barnet Area Committee on 17th July. 5.    THE ROAD SEAL ON GREAT BUSHEY DRIVE AND OAK TREE DRIVE (N20) – SUBMITTED BY MRS UMRAN ASMAN ON BEHALF OF NEIGHBOURS ON GREAT BUSHEY DRIVE AND OAK TREE DRIVE N20

The Chairman thanked Mrs Asman and neighbours for attending. They are concerned that the surface is not fit for purpose because the surface is coming away from the road. Stones constantly get stuck to shoes, fly up and hit people and objects as cars pass by. Loose chippings find their way inside their houses, causing damage to shoes (as they stick), floors and carpets.

The Chairman commented that Councillor Stock and Councillor Alison Cornelius, as Councillors for Totteridge Ward, had been very proactive in trying to get the matter resolved and expressed agreement that Re should undertake new treatment to the road surface.

Councillor Cornelius requested to speak and informed residents of the actions taken so far which included visiting the site several times, reporting issues to officers, visiting the site with officers/contractors and in taking pictures to demonstrate the poor condition of the road. She advised that she is still waiting for a feedback on what action will be taken.

The Chairman thanked Mrs Asman and other residents, noted the issue and instructed the following:

a.    That Officers check that this item is on the agenda for Environment Committee.

b.    That Officers speak to The Strategic Commissioner for Environment to prioritise the matter.

c.    That Officers keep councillors in the loop and update them on progress.

d.    That Officers copy Members Enquiries in to the action so that a response can be monitored.

6.    A PETITION OF 89 SIGNATURES (AT THE TIME OF PUBLICATION CALLING FOR A CEASE IN THE USE OF THE CHEMICAL GLYPHOSATE ON PAVEMENTS, GREEN SPACES ETC INSTEAD OF ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY METHODS OF WEED CONTROL – SUBMITTED BY PHILIP FLETCHER, HIGH BARNET RESIDENT

The Chairman thanked Mr Fletcher for the issue he raised and his petition stating that a specific response to his question had not yet been received, but will be sent as soon as possible. The response provided is existing information from the Council web site which demonstrates that the Council is aware of the issue. The Chairman also confirmed that as there was no officer response to the issue raised, and because a response is in the public interest, she will permit the issue raised and petition to come to the next Forum meeting on 18th October 2017, reiterating that it was very much in the public interest to get a response to his question.  Mr Fletcher requested that the petition was extended to the end of December 2017.

The Chairman thanked Mr Fletcher, noted the issue and agreed the following:-

·         That an officer response is provided directly to Mr Fletcher and copied to her.

·         That the petition is extended to December end 2017.

·         That a web link to the information on the Council website is made available to Mr Fletcher. This is provided here:- http://barnet.moderngov.co.uk/documents/s40968/Chipping%20Barnet%20Residents%20Forum%205th%20July%202017%20-%20Initial%20Issues%20List%20-%20with%20responses.pdf

7.    Report back by Totteridge Ward Councillors on the survey they undertook with residents of Bushey Drive and Oak Tree Drive, N20 on the problem of commuter parking in their roads.

Councillor Stock and Councillor Alison Cornelius presented the findings of the survey they had undertaken into views on implementing a CPZ to resolve commuter parking problems on Great Bushey Drive and Oak Tree Drive, N20.

The results showed that the majority of people on both roads, when questioned, were in favour of a CPZ Monday to Friday. A fuller summary is available in this  link - http://barnet.moderngov.co.uk/documents/s40968/Chipping%20Barnet%20Residents%20Forum%205th%20July%202017%20-%20Initial%20Issues%20List%20-%20with%20responses.pdf
