Information about Children, Education & Safeguarding Committee

The Children, Education & Safeguarding Committee:

 

·         Has responsibility for all matters relating to children, care experienced (up to the age of 25), schools and education;

 

·         To submit to the Policy and Resources Committee proposals relating to the Committee’s budget (including fees and charges) for the following year in accordance with the budget timetable.

 

·         To make recommendations to Policy and Resources Committee on issues relating to the budget for the Committee, including virements or underspends and overspends on the budget. No decisions which result in amendments to the agreed budget may be made by the Committee unless and until the amendment has been agreed by Policy and Resources Committee.

 

·         To receive reports on relevant revenue and capital expenditure, contracts, performance information and risk on the services under the remit of the Committee;

 

·         To receive and consider reports as appropriate from the Corporate Parenting Advisory Panel;

 

·         Receive regular updates from the Lead Member for Children’s Services (Chair of Children, Education and Safeguarding Committee) covering key matters;

 

·         Receive an annual report from the Safeguarding Children’s Board; and

 

·         Determining arrangements for making nominations to the governing bodies of Local Authority administered schools.
