ADJOURNED

Minutes:

Regulation 11 states:

(1) Subject to regulation 13, an authority may extend a time limit provided for in these Regulations for a specified period where it considers this to be necessary in the public interest.

(2) Where the authority has extended a time limit it must forthwith give a notice to the parties stating the period of the extension and the reasons for it.

The time in which a hearing is to take place is set out in Schedule 1 to these Regulations, which, for an application for a premises licence where representations are received, is 20 working days beginning with the day after the end of the period during which representations may be made.   I mention this in case any proposed extension is outside of this 20-working day period.

Assuming it is, the authority may decide that it is in the public interest to adjourn the hearing, the public interest being to enable the applicant to respond to the objections so that the Authority to consider the same in order to determine this application to ensure for a fair hearing.
