Decisions of the Hendon Residents Forum
6th September 2018

Members present:
Chairman: Councillor Val Duschinsky
Vice Chairman: Councillor Lachhya Bahadur Gurung

 

1)    Petition: Parking on the footway in the vicinity of the Cavendish Banqueting Suite – Edgware Road NW9
Submitted by Susanne Harrington on behalf of the Area A residents

Officers informed the resident that the Colindale consultation had now been carried out and the concerns raised by residents would be considered when making final proposals. Any breaches of licencing or parking enforcement by the premises, that had been brought to attention would be investigated to ensure the premises was acting lawfully.

 

Following discussion of the petition the Chairman instructed that an appropriate officer contact the resident within 20 working days to provide an additional response.

 

2)    Issue: Fly-tipping in Mill Hill and Colindale
Submitted by: Richard Logue

 

The resident informed the committee that some of the hedgerows on main roads in the area were piled with litter and these needed extra attention. Mill Hill car park was also raised as a concern. The residents thanked the Street Scene team for the work they had conducted so far.

 

Following discussion of the issue the Chairman instructed that an appropriate officer contact the resident within 20 working days to provide an additional response.

 

3)    Issue: Wetland environments Mill Hill
Submitted by Roger Tichborne

 

The resident raised concerns about the impact of the dry spell on wetland environments and how this would be dealt with in the future.

 

Councillor Hart, a trustee of Darlands Lake explained that an agreement with the borough was currently being devised and that the lake would require de-silting, once money had been raised. The area would be re-constituted as a nature reserve.

 

Following discussion of the issue the Chairman noted the response and no further action was requested.

 

4)    Issue: Secondary school places in Hendon
Submitted by: Richard Logue

 

The resident explained that there would be a significant rise in the population in Mill Hill which could potentially cause an issue for boys in the area finding school places.

 

The resident asked that the proposals for Compton school to build on a site in the area to be progressed.

 

Following discussion of the issue the Chairman instructed that an appropriate officer contact the resident within 20 working days to provide an additional response on the situation.

 

5)    Issue: Islamophobia
Submitted by Roger Tichborne

 

Following discussion of the issue the Chairman noted the response provided by officers and no further action was requested.

 

6)    Issue: Ashley Walk re-surfacing
Submitted by Hilda Turon

 

The Chairman noted the response from officers and requested that a further response was provided to the resident within 20 working days.

 

7)    Petition: Against parking restrictions in Lowe Strand

Submitted by Kimiya Toopchiani

Signatures 86

 

The resident informed the governance officer before the meeting that they were happy with the responses they had received regarding the petition and no longer required this to be discussed at the forum.
