Minutes:

CHAIRMAN’S INTRODUCTION

The Chairman introduced himself and the Officers present and welcomed everyone to the virtual meeting.

1. Petition: Removal of double yellow lines – The Ridgeway NW7 (opposite Belmont Farm)

Lead Petitioner: Sarah Ali

Ward: Mill Hill

Number of signatures: 95

The Lead Petitioner presented the petition and outlined the parking problems faced by parents when dropping their children off at school. Officers noted that because the scheme to implement the yellow lines had been approved by the Hendon Area Committee, any changes to the scheme would have to be agreed by the Committee.

RESOLVED – That the petition be referred to the Hendon Area Committee for consideration on if and how the scheme could be amended to better support parents when dropping and collecting their children at school.

2. Petition: ‘No Left Turn’ at the Junction of A1 and Tithe Walk

Lead Petitioner: Dr Hilary Cass

Ward: Mill Hill

Number of signatures: 55

The Lead Petitioner presented the petition and outlined the accidents and near-misses which have taken place because of cars turning too quickly into Tithe Walk from the A1. The Panel talked in depth about how these problems might be resolved, however it was noted that the responsibility for the A1 lies with Transport for London (TfL), rather than the Council. Officers noted that the Council could collect data (for example vehicle counts and speeds) and present the results to TfL to encourage them to undertake any necessary modelling on the A1/Tithe Walk, and that this would require funding from the Area Committee.

RESOLVED – That the petition be referred to the Hendon Area Committee to consider undertaking any necessary surveys to encourage TfL to resolve the problems highlighted on the A1/Tithe Walk.

3. Issue: Request for double yellow lines to be implemented at the entrance and exit of Colin Crescent from/onto Colindeep Lane to stop vehicles being parked to the tip of this junction.

Resident: Mrs Ragini Mendis

Ward: Colindale

The resident was not able to attend the forum, and therefore Councillor Roberto Weeden-Sanz presented the issue on her behalf. He highlighted the issues of visibility when there are a lot of parked cars on Colin Crescent. The Panel noted that the request would carry more weight if there were more residents in support of yellow lines, and asked officers to advise the resident to submit a petition which could be considered at a future meeting of the forum, to this end.

RESOLVED – That the issue be deferred to a future meeting of the Hendon Residents Forum in order that the resident can provide further evidence of local support for the proposal.
