Minutes:

Decisions of the Finchley & Golders Green Residents Forum
 2nd March 2022
Virtual Meeting

Forum Members Present:
Councillor Jennifer Grocock (Chairman)
Councillor John Marshall (Vice-Chairman)

The Chairman opened the meeting, introduced the Panel, and welcomed all attendees. The Chairman informed speakers about the procedures for the virtual Forum meeting.

1.    Petition: Response to Engagement on Parking, Finchley Church End

Lead Petitioner: Deborah Weinberg

The lead petitioner presented the petition to the Forum. She noted that it had come to her attention that some residents had not received the CPZ consultation paper, but this information had been shared by residents instead.

The Chairman thanked Ms Weinberg and apologised if these had not been received. Efforts had been made to get the letters noticed by addressing them to individual properties. It had been agreed that further comments could be received after the deadline, though not indefinitely.

The Chairman invited Mr Phil Hoare, Assistant Director of Parking, to respond. Mr Hoare noted that the petitions were helpful in providing insight into residents’ views as part of the consultation feedback. The consultation had deliberately been designed in a freeform format, with a view to allowing an intelligent response from residents. The council is aiming to ensure that it deals with any current problems with parking and foresees any potential future ones.

The Chairman resolved to refer the matter to a chief officer to respond within 20 working days.

The Vice Chairman, Cllr John Marshall, thanked Cllr Grocock for chairing the Finchley and Golders Green Residents’ Forum with efficiency, compassion, and consideration.

The Chairman thanked Cllr Marshall, who would stand down at the local election in May, for his sterling work over many decades and added that she would miss working with him.

The meeting finished at 19:22 hrs.
