Arkely Drive EN5 3LN - Tree Obscuring Traffic

Minutes:

The resident requested for the Council to assess the situation to prevent accidents from happening.

Chairman’s decision:

It was RESOLVED that the issue be referred to Officers to respond within 20 working days with the view of undergoing patch work under the minor works programme.

2.

Chandos Avenue, N20, Speed Limit

Minutes:

The resident presented the Petition. Cars were regularly seen to be speeding up and down the road regardless of the 30mph speed limit.  Road signage was inadequate and with schools in the area, there was more concern amongst residents. The Chairman agreed that safety was very important for every body and the Borough takes speeding very seriously.  The Chairman mentioned that cars sometimes perceived to be speeding were found not to be speeding when in a speed detection survey with the police takes place. The Chairman suggested as a first step to retrieve data from a survey and depending on the results, put up speed activated signs where needed.

Officers agreed with the Chairman and said that wider interventions may be needed. The resident was directed to consult with Community Roadwatch in the first instance and to work with the Ward Councillors to build up the evidence.

Chairman’s decision:

It was RESOLVED that no action be taken. The resident will take action as mentioned above.

Traffic & Speeding along Gallants Farm

Minutes:

The issue was introduced by Mrs Jahangeer on behalf of residents of Gallants Farm & Alverstone Avenue. Concerns were raised about speeding along Gallants Farm Road which also led to a recent car accident that took place on the corner of Gallants Farm and Alverstone Avenue.

The Chairman agreed that it is a long road and cars were usually parked on the pavement. The Chairman suggested that a feasibility study be done in the first instance and speed activated signs may then be put up in the required places with input from Ward Councillors.  Councillor Weeden-Sanz was in support of the recommendation and said it was the best way forward.

Chairman’s decision:

It was RESOLVED that the issue be referred to the Chipping Barnet Area Committee for a feasibility study to be done.
