Members and Officers Present: - Councillor Lisa Rutter (Chairman), Councillor Alison Cornelius (Vice-Chairman); Jamie Cooke, Strategic Lead – Effective Borough Travel, Naomi Kwasa - Governance Officer

 

 

 

CHAIRMAN’S INTRODUCTION

 

The Chairman introduced herself and the Officers present and welcomed everyone to the meeting.

 

 

1. Support Barnet residents whose rights in Barnet are adversely affected by Brexit – Submitted by Derek Mayer

 

 

A written response to the issue raised by Mr Mayer was published and he did not attend the meeting. Here is a web link to the response:

The Chairman agreed to take no further action.

 

 

2. Osidge Lane N14 – Submitted by Kate Panteli

 

The petition was discussed by the Panel and by Ward Councillor Weeden-Sanz, including the benefits of installing a VAS sign to monitor driver speeds.

 

The Chairman referred the petition to the Chipping Barnet Area Committee to look at the possibility of installing one or two VAS signs along Osidge Lane.

 

 

3. Petition for a new skate park - Victoria Recreation Ground – Submitted by Alice Kentish

 

The petition was introduced by the Lead Petitioner and was discussed at length with the Panel and other residents, including the importance of any potential design containing a wave and a bowl. The Chairman confirmed that options for skateparks are being considered across the Borough and that as part of the Parks and Open Spaces Strategy, Officers will be considering a strategy approach to the location and availability of wheeled sports across the Borough, and any proposals will be put forward for public consultation. Officers will therefore keep Mrs Kentish updated about the possibility of a skatepark on Victoria Recreation Ground.

 

The Chairman agreed to take no further action.

 

 

4. Petition for Trinder Road to be a Controlled Parking Zone - Jade Edwards

 

A written response to the issue raised by Ms Edwards was published and she did not attend the meeting. Here is a web link to the response:

5. Accidents on Brunswick Park Road – Submitted byTeresa Talbot

6. Retain brown bin collections – Submitted by John Dix

 

The petition was introduced by the Lead Petitioner and was discussed at length with the Panel, residents and Ward Councillors. The Chairman confirmed that the item was on the agenda of the upcoming Environment Committee on 13 September and that to register to speak on the item, residents should email governance.service@barnet.gov.uk by the deadline on Monday 10 September.

 

The Chairman agreed to take no further action.
