Sustained lobbying by Barnet Homes’ Housing Options Service to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) resulted in the Ministry agreeing to provide £0.533m to Barnet Homes’ Housing Options Service, to support the following three key areas of homelessness work:

a)            Prioritising prevention activity;

b)            Carrying out homelessness activities in line with the principles of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017; and

c)            Reducing or eliminating the use of emergency B&B, particularly for periods over 6 weeks.

This report sets out how the additional funding can be used to reduce homelessness and seeks to allocate the funding to Barnet Homes for this purpose.

Approval to award a contract via single tender action for the provision of Hybrid Vehicles and Car Rentals to Europcar Group UK Ltd for a 2-year period commencing on the 10^th August 2019, with the option to extend for a further period up to one-year subject to budget constraints and performance.

This report seeks authority for the direct purchase of 17 Crokesley House, HA8 0BL. for use as part of the Housing Revenue Acquisition programme.

To authorise the private treaty acquisition at a purchase price of £340,000 for 17 Crokesley House, HA8 0BL. in accordance with associated costs as mentioned in this report, and Heads of Terms to be agreed in respect of this property.

This report seeks authority for the direct purchase of 8 Sheaveshill Court, The Hyde, NW9 6BP. for use as part of the Housing Revenue Acquisition programme.

To authorise the private treaty acquisition at a purchase price of £237,500 for 8 Sheaveshill Court, The Hyde, NW9 6BP. in accordance with associated costs as mentioned in this report, and Heads of Terms to be agreed in respect of this property.

To enter into a Contract with Barnet Homes for the provision of Generic Housing Related Floating Support and Specialist Mental Health Floating Support services from 1st August 2019 for a period of three (3) years (with the option to extend for an additional period(s) of up to one (1) year) subject to satisfactory performance (including entering into Letter of Intent with Barnet Homes).

This report seeks approval to award contracts to deliver Short Breaks Services in Barnet for families with disabled children, and young people and children with additional needs.

The Council has a statutory duty to provide breaks to carers of disabled children. Short breaks form part of the continuum of services giving disabled children and young people positive experiences, whilst, at the same time, giving a break to their primary carers.

Work has been undertaken to deliver a new Short Breaks offer from 2019 and to ensure a more diverse market to support families going forwards. This service has been retendered and went out to market in March 2019. The new contracts are to be awarded for services to commence from 1^st September 2019.
