Finchley and Golders Green Resident Forum

Draft Parks and Open Spaces Consultation

 

The Forum received information regarding two consultations that will be launching on 18th January 2016. They relate to how Barnet manages parts of its environment and environmental impact in the future. These consultations are for our Draft Parks and Open Spaces strategy and Draft Recycling and Waste Strategy. The details of the consultation were made available at the meeting, and were also appended to the issues list.

Enforcement of Blue Badge Holders parking on double yellow lines

The resident, Ms Jane Bailey, made an oral representation at the forum and thanked both officers and councillors for their support with the issue.

Clock on Cricklewood Broadway/dead trees on Cricklewood Broadway

Officers present at the meeting said that they would provide more information regarding the ownership of the clock to the resident.

CPZ in Leslie Road

Councillor Arjun Mittra spoke in his capacity as ward councillor. He spoke in support of the requested CPZ.

-       The Chairman referred the item to the following meeting of the Finchley and Golders Green Area Committee.

7.        

Dead trees in Kara Way pocket park

The Forum heard an oral representation of the issue from two residents, Ms Jessica Howey and Ms Marlene Wardle. The resident stated that there had been significant delay in resolving the issue of discussion.

 

-       The Forum noted the response in the issues list

 

-       The Chairman instructed officers to provide an additional response to the resident within 20 working days, to:

 

1.    Inform the resident which trees will be replaced.

2.    To provide reassurance that the action will be completed by March 2016.

Public Space Protection Order

The Forum heard an oral representation of the issue from the resident, Ms Howey.

 

Matt Leng, Community Safety Manager, verbally responded to the issue and stated that the Community Safety Team would be addressing many of the concerns raised by the resident in the following months.

10.     

Damaged pavement – Kara Way; still not repaired

The Forum heard an oral representation of the issue from the resident, Ms Howey.

 

Mike Hitchings, Regulation Services Manager, verbally responded to the issue and stated that this issue has recently been investigated twice. He noted that his team will revisit the location to investigate areas which the resident cited as points of concern.

 

The resident also raised an urgent concern relating to the pavement outside of Tesco on Cricklewood Broadway, which is in need of fixing.

 

-       The Forum noted the response in the issues list

 

-       The Chairman instructed officers to provide an additional response to the resident within 20 working days in regard to the pavement outside Tesco on Cricklewood Broadway.

Councillor Or-bach spoke in his capacity as a ward councillor, and raised concerns about the monitoring and disposal of trade waste.

 

The Chairman and Councillor Or-bach noted a need for more robust enforcement concerning the disposal trade waste.

Request for kerb markings and upright signs “No Waiting at Any Time” to reinforce Double Yellow Lines at junctions of Fallow Court Avenue/ Montrose Crescent and Montrose Crescent/Granville Road and for these areas to monitored and regulations enforced by London Borough of Barnet Parking Enforcement

Derelict strip of land next to North Circular in East Finchley

15.     

Deterring dumping around Cricklewood Lane

submitted by Andrew Dismore, GLA Member for Barnet and Camden

 

Councillor Jack Cohen spoke in his capacity as ward councillor and  asked whether more signs could be put up stating that fly-tipping is monitored. The Chairman responded by saying that there are several signs in the area already that state that dumping is not permitted.

-       The Chairman instructed officers to provide an additional response to the resident within 20 working days with information regarding a CCTV upgrade in the area.

Keeping Primrose Close N3 free of parked vehicles

Councillor Arjun Mittra spoke on behalf of Mr Dismore and made a representation in regard to the concerns presented in the issues list.

 

Councillor Graham Old spoke in his capacity as a ward councillor and said that the road in question is an un-adopted road and is therefore a private matter.

Councillor Anne Hutton spoke in her capacity as a ward councillor, and state that there is potential confusion over the location of the issue.

Mike Hitchings, Regulation Services Manager, provided an additional response and mentioned that there are plans to include additional zig-zag lines in Stanley Road. Mr Hitchings noted that he would be willing to meet the resident on site to discuss the issue in greater depth.

Councillor Jim Tierney spoke in his capacity as a ward councillor to say that this issue has previously been raised on many occasions, and that the most recent survey of the issue indicated that there is not support of controlled parking.

 

The Chairman recommended that the resident contact their ward councillors in respect to taking the issue forward.
