In advance of the public questions and comments and at the invitation of the Chairman, the Programme Director for Education and Learning gave a presentation summarising the proposals outlined in item 7. Copies of the presentation were made available to the public present at the meeting.

 

Public comments were made by Ms Barbara Jacobson and Ms Theresa Musgrove.

 

Details of the questions asked and the published answers were provided with the agenda papers for the meeting. Verbal responses were given to supplementary questions at the meeting.

The Programme Director for Education and Learning introduced the report, which related to proposals for Barnet’s Future Library Service.

 

Following discussion of the report, the Chairman moved to the recommendations outlined in the cover report. Votes were recorded as follows:

Immediately following the vote the Chairman, Councillor Reuben Thompstone, moved to refer the item to the next practicable meeting of Full Council. The reason given for the request to refer the item was that there is substantial public interest in the issue, and that it is a key issue affecting the majority of the borough’s wards, therefore meaning that Full Council is better placed to make the decision. The request to refer the item was supported by:
