The Sub-Committee heard Councillor Julie Jonhson’s representation regarding concerns about un-swept streets across the whole Hendon Constituency. 

 

Following discussion of the issue the Sub-Committee:

 

RESOLVED

 

1.    That the Sub-Committee formally instruct the appropriate officer(s):

 

·         To Conduct a review of the Street Cleaning Policy

·         To present a report of the Street Cleaning Policy to a future meeting of the Hendon Area Environment Sub-Committee and for it to include:

o   protocol of the method of how parks are cleaned and maintained before, during and following an event.

 

Following the determination of this item, Members of the Sub-Committee were requested to provide officers with what they considered ‘hot spots’ within their wards.

Any Other Items that the Chairman Decides are Urgent

Minutes:

The Chairman noted that he had received communication from Councillor Geoffrey Johnson regarding a matter which he wanted to bring to the Sub-Committee’s attention.   

 

Councillor Geoffrey Johnson presented the Chairman with a petition of 109 signatures which outlined the demand for a pedestrian crossing on Aerodrome Road between Beaufort Park and the Peel Centre.  Councillor Johnson noted that the crossing was needed to enable pedestrians to cross safely.  

 

Councillor Johnson added that an additional bus stop is needed to support residents. 

 

 

The Highways Manager noted that the installation of a pedestrian crossing is being investigated.  A report is expected to be delivered in October in order to highlight the proposals.  

 

RESOLVED

(1)  That the sub-Committee note the information

(2)  That the sub-Committee request that Ward Members be consulted with during the process.

 

 

The Chairman requested that the Highways Officer provide the Sub-Committee with an update on Bittacy Hill in respect to the difficulties of traffic flow.

 

The Highways Manager tabled a plan of the area and noted that proposals for the improvement of traffic flow are to be circulated in a statutory consultation period.  Once officers have considered the outcome of such consultation they will then take a view in order to make the necessary highway improvements.
