RESOLVED – That the Minutes of the meeting of the Sub-Committee held on 15 January 2014 be agreed as a correct record.

Members' Item - To consider urgent speed reduction measures in North End Road NW11 to complement those recently introduced in Camden pdf icon PDF 99 KB

Minutes:

The Sub-Committee considered Councillor Lord Palmer’s representation regarding the need to consider urgent speed reduction measures in North End Road, London NW11 to complement those recently introduced in Camden.

 

RESOLVED – That the Strategic Director for Growth and Environment be instructed to put in place the necessary measures to introduce a 20 mph speed limit in North End Road, London NW11, for an experimental period of not less than six months and that the feasibility of other traffic management measures for the area is considered.

The Highways Manager introduced the report.

 

RESOLVED

 

(1)          That the list of roads for carriageway resurfacing, footway relay and other highway maintenance works in the Finchley and Golders Green Area for 2014/2015 as listed in Appendix A to the report be approved, subject to the below amendments in (2).

 

(2)          That subject to the overall costs being contained within available budgets, delete the proposed footway relay maintenance works for Creighton Avenue, N2 and New Trinity Road, N2 and replace with footway relay maintenance works for the following:

 

o   Fortis Green (both sides)

o   East Finchley High Road – Chandos Road to Camden / Islington entrance

o   The Walks from North Circular Road to Church Lane

o   Long Lane from North Circular Road to Church Lane

 

(3)          That, subject to the overall costs being contained within available budgets, the Strategic Director for Growth and Environment be instructed to:

 

i)      

give notice under Section 58 of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 of the Council’s intention to implement the highway works shown in Appendix A by advertising and consulting as necessary with public utility companies and Transport for London (TfL)  for  schemes proposed to be implemented during 2014/2015;

ii)    

implement the schemes proposed in Appendix A by placing orders with the Council’s term contractors or specialist contractors appointed in accordance with the public procurement rules, and or the Council’s Contract Procedure Rules as appropriate;

iii)

commission condition assessments of carriageways and footways within all constituent areas to determine the overall condition and appropriate measures to be considered in future programmes;

iv)

agree any variations to the scheduling of the programme in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Environment and the Chairman of this Sub-Committee.
