The Sub-Committee received the below item, which had been referred to the Sub-Committee by the Chairman of the Finchley and Golders Green Residents Forum.

Issue 7 (Finchley and Golders Green Residents Forum of 26 June 2012)

Speeding in Petworth Road (and neighbouring roads) - to discuss ways in which the speed of traffic could be minimised within our residential family areas.

 

Following discussion and consideration of this item, the Sub-Committee:

RESOLVED – That subject to the overall costs being contained within available budgets, the Interim Director of Environment Planning and Regeneration be instructed to investigate ways in which the speed of traffic could be minimised within Petworth Road and neighbouring roads, and that a report on the outcome be brought to the next appropriate meeting of the Sub-Committee.

The Chairman of the Sub-Committee agreed that the below items be taken as urgent items so that necessary action could be taken in a timely manner on the matters.

 

7a.      PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT SCHEME IN EAST END ROAD

The Transport and Regeneration Manager, representative of the Interim Director of Environment, Planning and Regeneration provided the Sub-Committee with details of the plan of a proposed improvement scheme in East End Road, funded through development at the Sternberg Centre.  He informed the Sub-Committee that the scheme illustrated was for £25,000 of Section 106 funds for a pedestrian improvement scheme, and included improvements to the existing central island, relaying of the southern footway, guardrailing & signage review / amendments and new dropped kerbs.

RESOLVED -

(1)       That subject to the overall costs being contained within available budgets, the Interim Director of Environment Planning and Regeneration be instructed to implement the scheme subject to:

(i)     further consideration being given to the need for removal of the isolated guardrail panel identified in the plan submitted to the Sub-Committee, unless deemed warranted.

(ii)    further consideration being given to the need for removal of road markings and signage, unless deemed warranted.

 

7b.      HIGHWAYS WORK PROGRAMME

The Transport and Regeneration Manager provided the Sub-Committee with details of the latest information on the Highway Maintenance programme, which the Sub-Committee had requested be brought to this meeting.  The Sub-Committee noted that three schemes, which had been included in the Finchley and Golders Green Area, where in the Hendon Area.  The Transport and Regeneration Manager confirmed that this would be amended and re-circulated to the Sub-Committee

RESOLVED - That the Highways Work Programme be noted.

Minutes:

 

Bus stop on the 382 route towards Finchley Central in Summers Lane N12 near Sunny Way

The scheme is included in the 2012/13 Local Implementation Plan (LIP) funded programme.

 

Lower end of The Vale, Golders Green, NW11

The issue of weight restriction continues to be investigated and an update will be reported to the next appropriate meeting of the Sub-Committee.

 

Parking pressures in non Controlled Parking Zones (CPZ) sections of Hampstead Way, NW11

The consultation process with residents commenced on 28 June 2012.

 

Review of Traffic Management measures along Squires Lane

Various road safety issues were discussed at the Finchley and Golders Green Residents Forum prior to this meeting and an update will be reported to the Sub-Committee at its next meeting.

 

Road Safety around Moss Hall School

Officers have been in discussions with ward councillors.  There is a six-month review of the traffic calming measures that were removed.  The indication from the results of the review to date is that traffic speeds do not meet the criteria for re-instatement of the measures.

 

Personal Injury Accidents

An update will be reported to the Sub-Committee at its next meeting.
