Minutes of the Chipping Barnet Residents Forum

Held at Chipping Barnet Library 18th October 2017

 

Members and Officers Present: - Councillor Lisa Rutter (Chairman), Jamie Cooke, Strategic Lead – Effective Borough Travel, Naomi Kwasa and Paul Frost – Governance

CHAIRMAN’S INTRODUCTION

The Chairman introduced herself and the Officers present and welcomed everyone to the meeting.

 

1.    GREEN ROAD N20 AND SHERWOOD TERRACE N20 PARKING – SUBMITTED BY MR NAVIN LONGWOOD

The Chairman agreed to take no further action.

 

2.    CHIPPING BARNET HIGH STREET PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENT SCHEME – SUBMITTED BY MRS GAIL LASER ON BEHALF OF THE CHIPPING BARNET TOWN TEAM

 

The petitioner introduced the item and spoke of the desire to take the proposal back to residents at a number of events happening in the area before the end of the year. Officers confirmed there was not enough time to take a report to the Chipping Barnet Area Committee on 30th October, however there would be a meeting with the various residents associations to update them with further information before Christmas.

 

The Chairman thanked Mrs Laser, noted the issue and agreed the following;

 

a.    That Officers would conduct a meeting before the end of the year with the Chipping Barnet Town Team and other residents’ associations to update them on proposals for the scheme.

 

3.    PROPOSED HIGH STREET BARNET PAVEMENT BUILD-OUTS – SUBMITTED BY MR LES BEDFORD ON BEHALF OF THE UNION STREET RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION

 

The petitioner engaged in the discussion on Item 2. and confirmed they would like to see the proposals as soon as possible. As the issues relate to the same scheme no further discussion was required.

 

The Chairman thanked Mr Bedford, noted the issue and agreed the following;

 

a.    That Officers would conduct a meeting before the end of the year with the Union Street Residents’ Association and other residents’ associations to update them on proposals for the scheme.

 

4.    CPZ IN GREAT BUSHEY DRIVE – SUBMITTED BY MR ALEXANDER

The Chairman agreed to take no further action.

 

5.    PETITION CONTAINING 25 SIGNATURES – WAITING RESTRICTIONS HALTON CLOSE AND COLNEY HATCH LANE – SUBMITTED BY S. MARSON

 

The petitioner brought forward photos to share with the Chairman and Officer and described the dangerous parking conditions that the residents of the street would like addressing, including accessibility difficulties for emergency vehicles. The Chairman sympathised with the problem and agreed it was essential and therefore referred the matter to the Chipping Barnet Area Committee on 30 October 2017 for consideration.

 

The item was referred to Chipping Barnet Area Committee.
