Members Item - Councillor Jim Tierney PDF 94 KB Minutes: A briefing on betting shops was circulated to the Committee.
Having considered the briefing, the Committee agreed to defer this item to its next meeting to enable a Planning Policy Officer to attend. This would allow for more a more in-depth and thorough discussion on contents of the report.
The Vice-Chairman also advised the Committee a deferral would be appropriate in view of the fact that the Cabinet Member for Planning, Councillor Joanna Tambourides has written to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Mr Erick Pickles on the issue of betting shops in Barnet’s High Streets. Councillor Tambourides is currently awaiting a response.
RESOLVED -
1. That the Member’s Item from Councillor Jim Tierney be deferred to the next meeting of the Committee.

RESOLVED - That the application for registration as a Town or Village Green under Section 15(2) of the Commons Act 2006 in respect of the land known as Finchley Garden Village, Upper and Lower Greens, Village Road, N3 1TL, as shown on the site location plan 2 be REFUSED as the application cannot meet the requirements of s15(2) of the Act as the applicant’s use has been ‘by right’ and not ‘as of right’ and it cannot be established that the use of the land by the applicants has been without permission of the landowner which in this case is LB Barnet. |
